The Analytics engine






My intention from my brief was fulfilled. I had created shades which would automatically rotate downwards when a certain amount of light flow was entered in the rooms. Sensors would have threshold triggers which when set of, would rotate the shades at an appropriate level according to the suns coordinates. This Feed givin would be live updating every 5 minutes allowing a perfect climate control for inside.

InfoGraphs



The new 2012 Death & taxes poster which helps visualize proposed u.s federal budget. The use of layout spread and colour is interesting and how everything is linked up would make it a very usefull information poster. 





This info graph helps intake information that might be hard to locate, giving statistical information about deaths in pedestrians in a specific area. Giving information that would be suprizing to hear for eg. 4 out of 157 deaths were kids.


This info graph has a bit of meaning behind it. The value of data is represented in a large symbol but the value 7 is shown many times in the humans face. from what i get out of this info graph is that the value of data is more to meets the eye, but once intakin data, we are capable of taking in large amounts of data.

Assignment Brief

For My assignment, I plan on using self designed shades which will move to cover openings like windows, skylights etc to control the light flow entering the room/ area. I will also be needing more then 1 sensor so i have decided to include multiple sensors at each opening of the environment. This will help me get a more accurate control of light flow.

Patchube + Flowgraph


Moving Entity Analysis


Using a basic moving entity flow graph combined with xml flow graph i was able to get a live feed on how far the car moves away from the avatar. This allows me to accurately measure the distance traveled.

Pachube Post & S.W.O.T Analysis


"I have attached a light sensor to my window in order to gather information on how much light flow may vary throughout the day. The sensor has been positioned in an area where direct sunlight will hit the most as there are no obstructions."

Strengths
This technique used to gather information on light flow will help controll the amount of artificial light being used inside a room/house/ building. This would also help stabilize  temperature readings and have a a beneficial auto climate control within an environment.

Weaknessess
A weakness i found is that just having 1 sensor at 1 window will not be enough to have an accurate light flow control. Solving this problem would mean to have multiple sensors controlling different windows or skylights in a room.

Oppertunities
Great oppertunities that can arise is that there can be auto climate control Letting a certain amount of light in during the day. This will help not only controlling the light flow, but also temperature readings would also increase or decrease depending on how much light flow is intended.

Threat
A threat i found could cause problems is that allowing full control of light flow may effect how dark a room may get, causing complete isolation and intent of using artifical lighting.
